Without a doubt the most fun name to cheer on, this week's skater is far from anonymous. Even when opposition skaters Converge on her she's sure to be a solid defendant, and certainly never lifeless... it's Jane Doe a Go-Go!
On track and off, Go-Go is the kind of person that holds teams together. Previously a skater with Sheffield Steel Rollergirls (and if you're reading this, no, you can't have her back) she's dependable, thoughtful, and an awesome person to be on track with.
When others around her have been injured or in need of help, Go-Go will be the first person to send a care package and really look out for her team-mates. And it certainly doesn't hurt that she'll show up to bouts and practices well prepared with almost anything the team might be short of.
This year, Go-Go was elected the first ever captain for our new intraleague team, Hardcore Fawn, a role we can immediately foresee her excelling at. When it comes to tactics and awareness on track, Go-Go is very much the person to trust. She makes strong derby decisions not just for herself, but while guiding newer skaters along with her. At practice, she can keep any drill enjoyable without sacrificing anything in terms of determination and hard work. And when coaches keep using the word "facilitate" to describe helping others succeed, they might as well mean "be more like Go-Go"; she is above all else a team player.
Unfortunately, when you write about how thoughtful someone is, sometimes it makes it easy to underestimate them as a skater. So let's end by making sure this is 100% clear:
GO-GO BLOCKS LIKE A BOSS.
